IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR PARENTS:
In order ensure full and fruitful
participation, the Diocese of Scranton
requires that students attend
two consecutive years of a religious education program in
preparation for the reception of the
Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy
Eucharist, and Confirmation. To this end, no
new students will be admitted into these
sacramental preparation classes after
October 15 in the year
preceding these sacraments (1st
and 7th grade). Any student
seeking to begin a sacramental preparation
program after this date, will be welcome to
register for the following year’s program.
Exceptions for new families moving into the
parish and those with special circumstances
will be evaluated individually by the DRE
and the Pastor.
For
our families whose children attend St. John
Neumann Regional Academy:
1. The Academy prepares the 2nd
Grade for First Holy Communion. Parents
however, must attend the informational
meeting in the fall. Also, mindful that the
parish
and not the school is our primary faith
community, the children will be required to
participate in a number of parish events &
activities to ensure a more joyful and
unified experience of the sacramental life
of the Church.
2. The Academy
does
not prepare students for the Sacrament
of Confirmation. ALL parishioners in 7th
grade are expected to begin and participate
faithfully in the
parish formation program
(including the Parent meeting in the fall of
each year) which meets one Sunday evening
per month from 6:30-8:00pm.
