The United Churches of Lycoming County has for years produced a valuable resource for parishes—an amazing list of places people can turn to when they experience need. Pages are headed up with phrases like “When persons need clothing, when persons need food, when persons are homeless…”
With the changes we’ve experienced as parishes after our consolidation and linkage, sometimes we need to refresh ourselves just where people should go, depending on what they want. So, here’s our stab at “When Persons Need” at St Ann and St Boniface Parishes.
IF I NEED A MASS CARD… Any staff member (including priests if everyone else is busy) can handle this. Remember, all staff members work for both parishes. We don’t have a “St Ann Secretary” and a “St Boniface Secretary.”
IF I NEED TO REGISTER FOR EITHER PARISH… Any of the office staff can help you – Chris, George or Mary Jo. Forms are available in our churches and on our websites!
IF I’M DROPPING OFF COLLECTION MONEY… Any staff member can get your envelope where it needs to go. St Boniface Church has offertory boxes in the narthex and next to the rectory side door. And, yes, we make sure your envelope goes to the right parish account!
IF I’M DROPPING OFF FAITH FORMATION FORMS… These go to Tiffany or Jessica. If they’re not in the building, please leave with any staff member.
IF I WANT CATHOLIC SCHOOL FOR MY CHILDREN… Walk across the parking lot and ring the doorbell at St John Neumann Elementary Campus.
IF I WANT TO SEE A PRIEST… Email us (both of our addresses are in the bulletin every week). Don’t slow things down by going through another staff member! If you prefer to telephone, please leave a message.
IF MY FAMILY MEMBER IS IN THE HOSPITAL… You have several options. Just like asking to see a priest, the quickest route will be email us (both of us). Next, ask hospital staff to contact a priest. (They’ll find the on-call priest or another available priest.) Or call the office and leave the name and room number. Try not to give the information to a priest just before or after Mass. Above all, don’t put your loved one’s situation on Facebook and wonder why we don’t see it!
IF MY FAMLY MEMBER WANTS COMMUNION AT HOME… Give the information to the office staff. (Use phone or email to leave a message.)
IF I DISCOVER A BUILDING ISSUE (the toilet that doesn’t flush, the burned-out light bulb, the broken kneeler, etc.) … Please contact the office! Remember, we don’t have a 24/7 repair crew. Don’t come to the priest just before or after Mass with a comprehensive list of wobbly kneelers. Get it to an office staff member for appropriate handling!
